Auction Watch

Every week we trawl the online auction sites for the cars that make the least sense, then list them here with a link, the current bid and when the hammer falls.

This week: November 2, 2026

This week's pile of auction nonsense spans five sites and three continents. Two of them finish today, so if you've always wanted a Geo Metro that can embarrass a Corvette, move fast.

Prices updated November 5, 2026.

  1. Cars & Bids Ended

    1996 Geo Metro Mid-Mounted V8 Swap

A Geo Metro, the official car of 50 mpg, with a 5.3-liter LS V8 mounted behind the seats, rear-wheel drive and flared arches. It's street-legal, apparently.

    Result
    Sold for $16,000 on November 2, 2026

  2. PCARMARKET Ended

    11k-Mile 1996 Renault Sport Spider

Renault built a roofless aluminum-chassis roadster and, on early cars, didn't bother with a windshield. You got an air deflector and were trusted to bring a helmet.

    Result
    Sold for $44,000 on November 2, 2026
    Ended

  3. Bring a Trailer Ended

    Jolly-Style 1988 Renault 4

A Colombian-market Renault 4 rebuilt as a beach car, with a striped surrey top, no proper doors and wicker seats. Wicker. In a car.

    Result
    Sold for $13,000 on November 3, 2026

  4. Bring a Trailer No reserve Ended

    1996 Isuzu Elf Camper

A Japanese cab-over work truck turned tiny motorhome, with an overhead bed, a cooktop and a wet bath with a toilet squeezed in behind a 2.8-liter diesel.

    Result
    Sold for $14,000 on November 3, 2026

  5. Collecting Cars Ended

    2000 Nissan President Sovereign

Nissan's Japan-only executive limo in four-seat VIP spec: rear massage seats, an ottoman footrest, a rear fridge and a rear air purifier. The owner's seat is the back seat.

  6. Bring a Trailer No reserve Ended

    1999 Daihatsu Midget II Cargo

A pink 659cc kei truck so small it makes a Suzuki Carry look like a semi. It revives the name of Daihatsu's 1950s three-wheeler and keeps the attitude.

    Result
    Sold for $7,450 on November 4, 2026

  7. Bring a Trailer Ended

    1962 Amphicar Model 770

A German convertible that drives straight into a lake and keeps going on twin propellers. The front wheels are the rudders, which is exactly as reassuring as it sounds.

    Result
    Sold for $100,000 on November 4, 2026

  8. Bring a Trailer No reserve Ended

    1998 Suzuki Carry Dump Truck 4WD 5-Speed

    A dump truck with a 657cc three-cylinder. It's a full-size one shrunk to the footprint of a garden shed, with four-wheel drive.

    $6,400

  9. Cars & Bids No reserve Ended

    2000 Honda Vamos Turbo

A Japanese kei van with a turbo three-cylinder and all-wheel drive. It's a shoebox with a hairdryer bolted on, and it's somehow very charming.

    Bid
    $2,920
    Ends

  10. Bring a Trailer No reserve Ends soon

    1982 Honda Motocompo

Not technically a car. It's a 49cc scooter whose handlebars and seat fold flat so it fits in the trunk of a Honda City, which makes it a car accessory with its own engine.

    Bid
    $3,450
    Ends

  11. Bring a Trailer

    1961 Robur Garant 30K 4x4 Fire Truck

An air-cooled East German 4x4 fire engine that served the town of Doberlug, then retired to a firefighting museum. It's an air-cooled fire truck, which is a bit funny when you think about it.
